Did You Know... Most of the early settlers in the Plano area
came from Kentucky or Tennessee. Most of these early settlers
came in groups which included relatives and friends. Many of these
families had ties through marriage. The Harringtons, Huffmans, Carpenters,
Mathews, Haggards, Shepards, Lunsfords, Bushes, Formans, and Dyes migrated
from Kentucky. Except for the Formans and Dyes the families
settled in large area northwest of Plano. The area south of Plano
was settled by the Vances, Rouths, Beverlys and Aldridges who came from
Tennessee. The majority of the settlers listed below came to Texas
before the Civil War or at least before 1872 and the construction of the
railroad.
